GAT-X00 Legacy

This is the GAT-X00 Legacy that will be in my fanfiction. The Legacy originally was the YMF-X00 Legacy the first prototype Mobile Suit. The design was created by Richard's grandfather Daniel. He and a group of his fellow scientists from different countries decided to help out the PLANTs by giving them the ability to effectively defend themselves from the Earth nations and their massive numbers of Mobile Armors. Under Daniel’s leadership this team of scientists developed several of ZAFTs earliest Mobile Suits. Because of this Daniel is seen as a hero in the PLANTs even though he is a natural.

Unfortunately Daniel dies from a rare form of cancer and leadership of MS development is transferred to PLANT scientists who are more anti-natural. The scientists continue to live in the PLANTs and design Mobile Suits for ZAFT. Richard is sent on a spy mission in the PLANTs to contact these scientists and collect data that proves vital to the development of the G-Project. These scientists decide to help him with his mission because of their friendship with his grandfather and they don’t like the direction that ZAFT is now going. After they realize how Patrick Zala wants to exterminate all naturals they decide to leave ZAFT. Before the scientists left the PLANTs they stole the Legacy that was in storage. They add technology from the Justice, the Freedom, and some new tech to the frame of the Legacy now renamed to the GAT-X00 Legacy.

In appearance the Legacy is almost identical to the Freedom. Unlike the other ZAFT made Gundam’s it uses Striker Packs made just for it, each pack has its own color scheme because the Legacy uses VPS Armor. The Striker Packs follow the traditional model created by the Strike Gundam, one for close combat, one for heavy weaponry, and one for light weaponry. I decided to name them after three of the Gundams from Gundam Wing; Wing, Heavy Arms, and Deathscythe. This is the Wing Striker pack it has the Freedom’s wings and similar weaponry. One of the Legacy's most advanced piece of equipment is its A.I./Tactical Computer. A Tactical Computer was another creation of Daniel Onasi. A Tatical Computer can handle such functions like controlling point defense systems of Mobile Suits and Warships making them extremely accurate. They can detect incoming fire and regulate the power flow of phase shift armor so that the impact area has full protection, when not under attack the defenses are at a lower setting to save power. Also they slightly improve the pilots performance by suggesting courses of action and cause the Mobile Suits to have a faster reaction time.

The scientists under Daniel's leadership made eight prototypes. The A.I. "8" was the eighth prototype of this A.I. The ship carrying it fell under pirate attack and it drifted into the Debris Belt. 8 was the only prototype that functioned properly. With its loss they gave up on the project. The scientists resumed the project in memory of Daniel's death. The Tatical Computer that was installed in the Legacy was not made sentient. It gained sentience as it expanded its own programing to maximize the Legacy's potential. The newly formed A.I. decided to use Daniel's voice and image(from when he was younger of course) to honor its creator. Richard decides to name it Luke after his infant brother who was murdered by Blue Cosmos.
